EXCHANGE EXPO

STRATEGY

By using Flushing’s existing, underutilized landscape, the newest proposal along Flushing’s waterfront captures a hidden potential to unlock some of the city’s growing population and economic pressures. Located in close proximity to a new BRT line, the proposal includes a large public plaza, which will soon to become of the most active commercial and transit hubs that connects Flushing at a regional and international scale. The system that integrates the new neighborhood is made up of a diverse system of ecological boulevards, acting as infrastructural ribs that extend from the primary backbone created by Flushing Creek. The project’s vision is to not only provide additional housing, but instead, create a progressive neighborhood that integrates Flushing’s social framework with new networks in which people live and work within a culture of shared resources, leading to an exchange of ideas and a district noted for its innovation.
